Student Partners Project | DATA
Both river discharge (the amount of water flowing down a river) and the "quality" of the water (the concentrations of all the "stuff" in the water as well as variables like water temperature) are of interest to the Student Partners Project, because in order to calculate the FLUX of a substance in the water (the amount that flows downstream in a given time) you need to know both the river discharge and the concentration of the substance.

By collecting samples of water from "their" rivers, students, teachers, and community participants in the Student Partners Project are providing critical new data for use determining constituent fluxes in rivers. Scientists need this information to better understand the river systems and to determine if they are changing as the climate changes. These data are posted here for use by Student Partners Project participants, by scientists, and by anyone else interested in learning more about the Arctic and its great rivers.
